INSIDER INFORMATION - King Aerospace
The flight data recorder, often referred to as the “black box,” can generally be defined as a sealed recording instrument installed in every aircraft that makes a continuous record of flight altitude, airspeed, heading, accelerations, voices and noises heard in the cockpit. These units are installed in fireproof housings and are mounted in the tails of aircraft and retrieved upon a crash to study the data recorded...

INSIDER INFORMATION

If you are taking the time to read this, you deserve some “insider information.” There are good things in the future of KING AEROSPACE (KA) and I thought I would share some of them. I assume you are interested in what we are doing or you wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) be reading this.

Our revenues are up by approximately 30% over the last year and there are positive signs of continued growth fueled by our team, who embrace the KA values and principles. It is clear to those we serve that we live what we profess and that we are sincere in our actions to serve others to the best of our abilities — the way we would want to be treated.

We will be celebrating KA’s 25th anniversary in the fourth quarter of 2018 and will highlight our KING Kulture™ and Servant Leadership principles. Recently, my son Jarid, our President, encountered a man who said, “I want to share with you that your guys really ‘saved our bacon’ several times in XYZ country. I have been in aviation for 30 years and have been at your KACC and KAI locations, and have never seen another company whose people perform as you do; maybe only when I was working on the SR-71 program.”

At our 25th anniversary event, we plan to share how our Kulture is our real “secret sauce” and how passionate we are about continuing to seek to touch more lives. We have begun an effort to have each of our team members think about their “why”:

  • Why is being at KA or anywhere else important to you?
  • What is it that really drives you to do what you do in all aspects of your life?
  • How does your individual role and performance impact you personally and impact your family and those you support, serve and work with?

Recently, I was given the book, Living with HONOR, about a Medal of Honor recipient, Salvatore A. Giunta, who co-authored the book along with Joe Layden. Throughout the book, there were many statements that made me feel like there was a close parallel between those in the book and the KA team. The author shared that early in his career his Sergeant Barberet explained to his soldiers, “We’re going to work harder than everyone else… I will hold you to a higher standard than everyone else.” Staff Sergeant Giunta went on to explain, “I didn’t know what to make of him; didn’t think I could possibly live up to his expectations. But I did. We all did (most of us, anyway), and eventually we came to view it as a badge of honor that we were in Barberet’s squad.”

The expectations and Kulture that the men and women at KING AEROSPACE embrace make us who we are; are why the gold wings are protected from being tarnished; are why we are always adapting and recovering; and are why we make things right when things don’t go as planned.

To facilitate our goal of touching more lives, we are seeking people with our values and passion. If you or anyone you know are interested in exploring the merits of being a part of an organization where service to others is greater than service to self, please contact me and I will route you to the right person. You’ve got to be tough because at KA, it’s about passion and performance.
