King Aerospace BBJ Business Continues Strong Growth

DALLAS, TX – King Aerospace Commercial Corporation was on track to complete work on 20 Boeing aircraft in 2018. Instead, it completed 29. Scope included routine maintenance, avionics, paint and interior modifications for Boeing Business Jets (BBJs), Boeing 737s and Boeing 757s.

“Significant investments in tooling, equipment, facilities and training have positioned us to serve Boeing aircraft extremely efficiently and effectively,” says Jarid King, president of King Aerospace Companies. “We’re earning a reputation for high-quality, value-priced support.”

Boeing acknowledged that status by nominating King Aerospace as a Supplier of the Year. Winners will be announced at the end of February.

“One of our cornerstone principles is quality in everything – no excuses,” says King. “Our work reflects that.”

Maintenance comprises the company’s highest percentage of Boeing aircraft support. King Aerospace is an authorized GE OnPoint™ service center, offering aircraft engine maintenance and repair for CFM56*-7B-powered BBJs and performing a range of on-wing maintenance. This includes line maintenance inspections, routine installed engine maintenance, removal and replacement of engines and engine components.

Avionics is also a key service. Last spring, King Aerospace completed the industry’s first BBJ Gogo 4G installation in addition to a SATCOM SRD system upgrade. It has also installed Ka-band phased-array, SATCOM antenna systems. It is currently working on a supplemental type certificate (STC) with Collins Aerospace’s for primary flight display synthetic vision.

KACC has capabilities in completing VIP interior re-fabrications, VIP surface finishing, and interior modifications. Paint continues to be a strong core offering. The process for a previously painted aircraft involves painstaking sanding and stripping, masking non-painted areas with tape and other materials, priming, painting with often custom-mixed colors, applying any stripes, lettering and logos and a final coat of protective paint.

“Customers can hardly believe our craftsmanship – and the beautiful finished product, routinely delivered on time and on budget,” says King. “Their satisfaction has led to our strong growth.”

King Aerospace USCG Contract Ramps Up

DALLAS, TX – The five-year contract awarded by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in 2017 to King Aerospace Commercial Corporation (KACC) has begun to gear up. The contract for USCG HC-144 and HC-27J aircraft paint services was to have covered nine aircraft a year. To date, KACC has completed its sixth aircraft.

“Things are picking up now and we’re on track to complete seven planes a year,” says Wayne Jamroz, KACC general manager. “We take great pride in delivering high-quality work and doing our part to advance this vital, mission-critical Coast Guard program.”

The HC-144 and HC-27J comprise the Coast Guard’s medium-range surveillance fleet. Both require a programmed depot maintenance inspection every four years. It includes a required external paint. The aircraft completed under King Aerospace’s contract have been enthusiastically received says Randy Johnson, director of corporate aircraft services.

“The Coast Guard loves our quality,” says Johnson. “We’re repeatedly told that when someone sees the completed aircraft, they hear, “Wow. Who painted that?”

Helping Fulfill the Coast Guard’s Maritime Mission
The USCG acquired 14 HC-27J Spartan aircraft with plans to commission them by 2022. The HC-27J is a variant of the C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft manufactured by Italian-based Alenia Aermacchi. Its varied USCG missions will include maritime patrol, surveillance, search-and-rescue, drug and migrant interdiction, and disaster response. It will also help detect, classify and identify maritime targets. Sixteen large cockpit windows and bubble windows in the fuselage increase visibility. Large doors on both sides of the cargo compartment and rear section accommodate paratroop drops.

The USCG also operates 18 modified, Airbus Military-manufactured, HC-144 maritime-patrol aircraft. This fixed-wing, turboprop features a sophisticated rear ramp that allows crews to quickly reconfigure the aircraft for such varied operations and medical evacuation, passenger transport or command and control. The aircraft is especially effective at locating objects in large search areas and directing other military, government and first responders to the sites.

DALLAS, TX – Wayne Jamroz has joined King Aerospace Commercial Corporation as general manager of its operations in Ardmore, OK. He brings almost four decades of extensive aviation maintenance experience to his leadership position.

“Wayne has tremendous drive, focus, integrity and a consistently positive attitude,” says Jarid King, president of King Aerospace Companies. “His depth of experience, proven leadership and ability to adapt quickly to ever-changing circumstances will be a great asset as we continue to evolve our services to better meet customer needs.”

In that role he oversaw the construction of the then-new facility and to develop AAR’s MRO business. He hired staff and technicians, and developed programs to increase their competitiveness in the global aircraft services market.

Previously, Jamroz served as vice president of maintenance and engineering for Midwest Airlines for almost 26 years. He has experience on both business and commercial jet aircraft and working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on airworthiness and regulatory compliance. He holds an A&P diploma, associate’s in aviation maintenance and bachelor’s degree in business management.

“The King Aerospace culture of no excuses and red-carpet treatment of customers drew me to make this move,” says Jamoz. “King treats its team like family, and I’m glad to now call myself a member of that family.”

At the 2018 National Business Aviation Association Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) this past October, King Aerospace and GE Aviation finalized a multiyear agreement making King Aerospace a GE OnPoint™ service center. King will provide aircraft engine maintenance and repair for CFM56*-7B-powered Boeing Business Jets (BBJ). As a GE OnPoint™ service center, King Aerospace will perform a range of on-wing maintenance including line maintenance inspections, routine installed engine maintenance, removal and replacement of engines and engine components. King Aerospace A&P mechanics are participating in intensive technical training at GE’s Cincinnati, Ohio campus in preparation for rolling out this service.

KACC also offers maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), interior design/refurbishment/completions and exterior paint for VIP and VVIP aircraft, specializing in the BBJ. King Aerospace Commercial Corporation is a family-owned company with a home office in Dallas. This year it celebrates its 25th-anniversary and record growth, with earnings 30 percent above fiscal year 2017.

“At a facility such as ours, some aircraft move through in a matter of days, others may take weeks or months,” says Jamroz. “Moving the plane through efficiently and effectively requires precision teamwork. I feel like I’m now with the best in the business.”

King Aerospace Celebrates 25th-Anniversary and Strategic Boeing Partnership

Read the latest coverage:

DALLAS, TX – Business aviation’s ups and downs can create a bumpy ride, but as King Aerospace Commercial Corporation (KACC) enters its 25th year, the company has never been stronger. That is due, in part, to its growing relationship with Boeing. The Oklahoma-based, AS9110-certified company offers Part 91, 121, 125 and 135 maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and exterior paint for VIP and VVIP aircraft, specializing in the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ).

King Aerospace is finalizing a partnership with Boeing in the U.S. Department of Defense’s Mentor Protégé Program (MPP), designed to help small businesses expand their footprint. The 18-month program involves quarterly meetings at Boeing’s Oklahoma City offices, ongoing counsel through phone calls and emails, and Boeing site visits to Ardmore. There are 150 Boeing Business Jets (BBJs) in the world with 40 of those based in the United States. This past spring, King Aerospace completed its first BBJ Gogo Biz 4G installation. This included a Satcom Direct Router (SDR) system upgrade and performance of a maintenance heavy check.

“This kind of mentorship means everything to a small, family-owned business such as ours,” says Jarid King, who became president of King Aerospace Companies in May 2016. “We see tremendous opportunity ahead as our services focused on the BBJ and Boeing 737 increase.”

The ability to both paint VVIP aircraft and provide interior refurbishment and maintenance give King Aerospace a competitive advantage. It’s the only privately owned company to offer this capability, and one of only five suppliers worldwide to serve this one-stop-shop market niche. King Aerospace routinely performs work for Boeing, Cessna and Bombardier aircraft. Supporting both corporate jets and VVIP aircraft enables small fleet operators with both classes of aircraft to turn to King Aerospace as a high-quality, but value-priced, turnkey solution. King Aerospace – a dealer for Gogo, Honeywell and Rockwell Collins – installs both voice and data upgraded communication systems.

Earning Their Wings – Every Project, Every Day

From Day One, King Aerospace has worked to build an incredibly resilient, value-driven corporate culture. Chairman and Founder Jerry King summarizes the company’s approach by saying, “We’re all in.” The wings of the King logo, for example, don’t come with the uniform. Team members earn them – and can lose them. Peers determine who demonstrates wing-worthy behavior. It takes a commitment to the company’s cornerstone principles. A couple of the most referenced ones: quality in everything – no excuses – and proactive, problem-solving attitudes.

“Our aviation support services have stood the test of time because we’re loyal to our principles, our gold wings and each other,” says Jarid King. “Our customers know us to be open, honest and hardworking. They choose to work with us because of our demonstrated values. With us, everything’s on the table. If there’s an issue, we own it and operate with full transparency. Customers appreciate being kept in the know and seeing our solution take shape real time.”

Raving Fans

King offers an experience that’s quite different from many of the other providers. Customers have full access to the team members working on their aircraft. They sit in on team debriefs. If there is an issue, the customer hears it without sugarcoating. Friday mornings the full team has breakfast – customers included. They’re treated like part of the King family.

As a result, some of the company’s best salespeople are its satisfied customers. Looking through a stack of testimonials, you see such comments as: … I couldn’t be any happier with the end product … I personally appreciated the “extra mile”… second-to-none support … impressive, competitive, and with much precision … pleasure doing business with your firm … extremely high quality of maintenance … the most successful return to service. One of the most vocal has been Glenn Barrett, KaiserAir vice president of maintenance. He wrote, “From a customer experience perspective, this was one of the most positive experiences I’ve had as a customer rep anywhere I’ve been over the last 30+ years.”  A question frequently heard, “Why didn’t I bring you my aircraft sooner?”

“Having predictable, repeat customers that trust you with their valuable assets – and continuing to earn that trust with each project – makes coming to work every day extremely meaningful and rewarding,” says Keith Weaver, King Aerospace vice president.

Meeting the Needs of the Mission

KACC’s strength is enhanced by its sister company, King Aerospace, Inc. (KAI), a global operation that serves the U.S. military and government to deliver responsive aircraft maintenance and logistics support services in some of the world’s most hostile, remote and harsh locations. In addition to its Dallas, TX home office; KAI operates facilities in El Paso, TX; Camp Humphreys, Korea; and 24/7 logistics outposts around the world. It was founded in 1992 and is participating in the 25th-anniversary celebration with KACC.

As a privately owned company, King Aerospace does not release its financials, but KAI is on track to achieve a record-breaking year by achieving 30-plus percent increase over 2017. It projects continued, robust growth in fiscal year 2019. KACC and KAI together employ nearly 200 team members and a steady influx of contractors.

“We’ve got strong tailwinds pushing us forward,” says Jerry King. “The company we’ve built with our passionate team and incredible clients make this anniversary a dream come true.”

Stop By and Meet the Team

Members of the management team will attend the National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) Oct. 16-18, in Orlando FL, Booth #1643, South Exhibit Hall A.
